Who We Are

Originally incorporated in 1977 and updated in 2018, the Friends of the Opelika Library has gone through many changes, but throughout it all, the vision has remained the same:

The Opelika Library Friends exists to support and promote the library and to encourage, engage, and foster in its members not only a love of reading and education, but a curiosity about and love for the community that surrounds them.

What We Do

The Friends support the Library by raising money through membership dues and annual book sales to fund many important services and programs at the library branches such as:

  • Refreshments at library programs

  • Sponsor children’s performers and programs

  • Awards at summer reading programs

  • Library equipment and facility improvements

  • Help with publicity and community outreach

  • Assist with fundraising and programs

The Friends also support the Library through volunteer opportunities and work on specific events, such as the annual CaddyStacks Mini Golf Event or the monthly book donation collection day and book sales during the year.
